No, it was almost the same color as an orange shoulder tang but without the orange shoulder. Mostly greyish but at the base of the fins, a bright orange line ran down the lenght of them. Most of the tail was white and if you looked very closely, it kinda had faint lines like a sohal running along it's body.

Very cool but i cant seem to find it anywhere. I have a site that shows as far as i know every tang and this wasn't on it:confused: It wasn't a juvenile since it was about 3-4 inches long and they also had a 4-5 inch long one.

Anyone know what i'm talking about???

Yeah, i have a lieutenant so it definitely isn't that.

The lavender is really close but not it. They had the lavender also but labeled as "surgeonfish". This one didn't have a blue tail, its tail was white. Also, it didn't have the little spots on the head area. Same body colot though other than the head and fins.

Can't figure out what the heck it was:confused:

Nope, thats not it either!! This is making me crazy:mad2:

Of course, DUMB lfs has no clue. When i requestioned them, it went like this:

me-"What kind of tang is that?
them-"orange finned"
me-"I've never heard of that, whats the scientific name?"
them-"orange finned"
me-"Ummm, thats not a scientific name"
them-"lemme check with the manager"............10 minutes later "Yep, manager says it's an orange finned tang" :furious: :uzi:

Thats another common name for the Tomini tang, Ctenochaetus tominiensis. Great fish.

Edit- Oops, some tried the tomini already, cant think of another that matches that description. Thats why I really dont like common names. Or LFS for that matter.

Maybe a blue eyed tang? That's the only other tang that would fit that description.

I agree with this 100%. I have this fish as well. It is great for algae control and is a beautiful fish with lots of personality. I have just recently seem them become readily available in the trade, so I'm guessing that this is the fish the original poster was asking about...

The one at Big Al's? (I think, right?)

It's a big tang (will be, not quite yet), more like a Dussumieri or Eye Stripe tang.
