Well guys I am thinking of building my own stand and canopy. I am planning on painting them white so the grain of the wood is not important. I was wondering what is the most economical wood to use that can withstand a 55 gallon tank.

Thanks in advance.

2x4 pine for the frame

plywood or whatever is cheapest for the exterior shell.

I would use 3/4" MDF and seal it well.
