Hi, I'm the proud owner of a neon goby who "sticks" to the glass in my nano. He appears to be healthy and eats well, but when he rests, he does so by laying in a vertical position against the tank wall. Is this typical behavior for a neon?

Yes. Mine do that all the time. It looks weird.

yes, it's normal. if you look closely, you'll see it's pelvic fins are modified into a 'suction' cup.

There is a whole line of gobys with that modified pelvic fin.
My clown goby does that along with my neon goby. My most recient loss, a red head goby, also had that pelvic fin, its so neat how they stick to walls and rock cliffs, and they can hold on pretty good too, I watch them flutter in the current holding on by the one fin. Neat stuff!

My neon loves my overflow. He got sucked into it once already.

I hadn't noticed the fins until you guys mentioned them. I'm really happy I got the neon, he's very entertaining. When I put my hand in the tank, he's not shy at all and swims right up to it. Peaceful, colorful, and doesn't eat my coral...awesome fish!

Yeah same here. It sure sucks having to turn your overflows off, remove the durso pipes, and fish around with a net until you catch the little buggers.

Yeah mine will cruise over and pick off all the oxygen bubbles that are stuck on my arm.
