I was needing something to clean my sand and I love the way goby's look. What would be the best goby to get for cleaning my sand > heard good things about both, just not sure which is preffered.

Thanks

I have an Amblygobius phalena which is often sold as a dragon goby and I love it. Very active, stirs up the top layer of sand, eats just about anything and has tons of personality. Even the dogs prefer it to the more colorful fish.

I feel they are both shy fish unless someone else as a different opinion.

Mine doesn't seem shy at all but maybe I've just been lucky.

I have an orange diamond goby and I love him. He is not shy at all, cleans the sand, and has great personality. This is the second one I have gotten and I cannot think of a better fish to do the job of cleaning my substrate.

My diamond goby sifts sand all day long and snags any cyclopeze that drifts by him during feeding time. I like that. Many claim they starve eventually. Hope mine won't because he seem to have developed a taste for cyclopeze.

They both can be very good at sifting sand. IMO it kind of a coin toss.

But if i had to pick, the dargons sift more sand.

I thought they were a pair because of the different colors at first but they look the same now after almost a year in the tank. The hang out together most of the day and get along very well unlike the 2 YWGs that I have which one of them have that grey bands developing but they don't hang out together but they each have a pistol shrimp to pair with.
