I have well water and I've been having a terrible time with hair algae. I started using Culligan bottled DI water and I've noticed a huge difference. The stuff is expensive and I bet a ro/di unit will pay for itself.

The well water is hard, but don't know what it has for anions.

Sorry to be so slow half our city is without power from a 60 mph wind storm. You would benifit from a RO/DI either our Ocean Wave + or the Ocean Reef +1 is what I would recommend. The Ocean Reef +1 is the best buy with the Dual TDS meterand pressure gauge. Be aware CO2 and low water pressure may be an issue for you with well water.

What is the overall dimensions of these two units, because it would have to go in a cabinet under a sink?

They are 16 w x 16 h x 6 d and the DI housing is 14 h x 6 x 6.

How will I know if my well system has enough pressure for a 75 gallon per day unit?

If your going to buy an RO/DI anyway get one with a pressure gauge or get the gauge add on. It doesn't matter what size membrane you get as they all need 50 psi or more. A Filmtec oprerates at the lowest pressure of 50 psi all others brands require 60-65 psi.

What kind of plumbing setup do you need to connect under a sink?

I think this is the best connection which goes on the shutoff valve where the faucet tubing connects 3/8 x 3/8 compression x 1/4 quick connect.

So, this thing doesn't take any electricity?

Sorry, double post.

No electricity, water pressure only, unless you need a pump.

What types of float valves are needed for auto shut-off on the Ocean Reef +1 model? Is there one that can be used on a round bucket?

Here is the float valve we handle down toward the bottom of the page It should work on a bucket.

My cabinet space is 20w x 14d x 15h with space for the DI housing above this.

Is there anyway the unit will go into this cabinet?

You only have 15 inches of height and they are 16 inches.

What is the difference between capabilities of the Ocean Wave and the Ocean Wave +?

Thefilterguys

More or less the same system the real difference is the DI housing. The horizontal housing only has 1/3 the capacity of the full size housing. With well water you will want a full size DI housing like on the Ocean Wave +.

Ok, I moved from the house that required that dimension of cabinet space. I now have unlimited space, but I cannot use hard plumbing, only direct connection to a sink faucet. Can this be done?

Since I have well water I am mostly interested in deionization. Could I get by with only one sediment filter and one carbon block in addition to a DI system? Also, do I need both a carbon block and an RO membrane on the same filter?

You do need both a carbon sediment and RO membrane. Now that your on well water it may present its own special problems with CO2 if the pH is low. Unless the tds of your well water is really low you will need an RO membrane.
