How hardy are these angels from a scale of 1-10. And also how well can they handle ich, like figting it off? Is it a ich magnet like the blue hippo tang? I know these two are different familes, I'm just using it as a example. Could you also share some experience? Thanks

IME the Coral Beauty was fairly easy to keep. Got along well with tankmates, and stayed healthy for some years. If I recall it may have shown some spots but they faded within a few days. The one caveat is that after 6 or more months of leaving polyps alone he began to nip, killing my open brain coral in time.

Corals I'm not to concerned of, since I dont have much. But thanks for the info, I was curious of how hardy they are.

No problem then :) Forgot to mention, however, that it was the only dwarf angel in the tank. Not sure how it would have behaved with other dwarf angels - I seem to recall some of them get pretty mean towards each other. Others will have more knowledge about that.

mine was one of the first fish i bought, and 2+ years later its still going. i had a little problem with the tank, and i lost 4 of the 6 fish i had. my CB was one of the two to make it. vary hardy IMO.

Pain,
Has your CB ever encountered ich and how well did it handle it?
thanks for the good info.

mine is hardy too, but he loves too eat bubble coral. Every other polyp, mushroom, zoo, sps, lps and ricordea he leaves alone. Just don't put bubble candy in front of him

I won't have a problem with corals since I dont have much. I was planning to get 2 dwarf angels but I think I will go with the CB. How aggressive are these angels when put together with butterflies or tangs? Favorite food? Do they hide alot or swim alot around the rocks? Their weapon used to fight, eg like tangs have the sharp scaple. Thanks

I believe that Coral Beauty's cruise in and out of the rockwork. Don't quote me on this but i am relatively they have a spine on their cheek as defense. There might be a bit of agression with tangs or butterflies with the same body shape but i dont imagine it would be too bad, I had an Eibli angel and a Tomini tang (before my tank crashed) and they got on very well.

I've got a Coral Beauty. He rarely bothers any of my other fish. I also have a Flame Angel and small Blue and Yellow Tangs. Everyone gets along. My 2 cleaner shrimp help keep everyone parasite free.

i have an outbreak of ich going on right now in my tank; my cb showed the first signs last week. today he appears to be completely free of it. on the weekend he was letting my blood shrimp clean him a lot.

I used to have a CB and she was very hardy... one of the first fish I ever got. I'd honestly say when I got her I hadn't been in saltwater long enough ... but it turned out she was quite easy to maintain. I don't recall her ever encountering ich.

Mine has been very hardy. All of the dwarf angels may show aggression towards other fish. If you can, add the angel last.

I have a coral beauty--not agressive around other fish except for other dwarf angels. I think it was because it was the first fish introduced to my tank.
They are a very hardy fish and love to move in and out of the rocks.
If you are going to have two dwarf angels then introduce them to the tank at the same time.

Dwarf angels will do well if you have a cleaner shrimp to help ward off parasites. Be sure to feed a proper angel diet.

I have a CB and a flame, they never bother each other....I did add them together, and its a 240.

There are also other large angels and five tangs, none of which bother them, or are bothered by them.

Finally, mine has never had a speck of ich...then again, I have a blue hippo who has never had a speck of ich either, so go figure.

i was ich free until i added a frag from the lfs without quarantine :(

my cb tries to intimidate my sunrise dottyback almost daily. it's lost chunks of it's tail fin a few times now. i assume the dottyback will only put up with so much.

Cool, compared to most dwarfs would this angel stand at the top for being the hardiest?I noticed some CBs pick off the glass of the tanks where there are little bits of strings hanging off the glass. Could that be algea?

attack11
07/10/2007, 08:14 PM
probably. mine picks at the algae i (purposefully) grow on my glass for my lawnmower blenny. i wish it'd eat seaweed, but as long as it's getting greens it seems happy and my corals are safe.

Do CBS eat alot if there is alot of algae on the glass for them?

I got one sitting in my QT and it developed ich b/c at the pet store the workers there didnt take out the live rocks in a tall tank and chased it around and they busted its tail a little. It developed ich but eats. I hope it clears up
