Well, it's finally all put together!

My marcorocks came in and I couldn't be happier, if anyone is looking to buy some rock that is the place to go. I had several huge pieces, and one that I didn't think was going to fit.

The stand I built myself (1st time), so It's a bit over engineered, but it works, and looks pretty good I think ;)

What do you all think of my aquascaping? Too much? Different placement?

Thanks to everyone that's given me advice along the way. Now I'll be bugging everyone for stock lists. ;)

Great rock shapes. What is that in the bottom right? Live rock? Kinda looks like kelp.

Yea, it's one piece of live rock. There is some kelp or something growing on top.

Yeah the only rock thats different is the piece of live rock from a LFS, the rest is from macrorocks.

I was cheap, but I think it turned out nice, the doors are oak, which is all I could find. The flash kinda makes it look funny, in real life it matches much better.

Best to have just the trim resting on a foam frame, as it compresses it can crack the bottom.

The stand is impressive.

I personally like aquascaping to look natural, the two big rocks in the upper center need to be nested down a little.

Great, the foam is allready there. Looks fine though, seemed to level the tank out.

If it is an AGA tank the manufacturer specifically notes that you should not put it on foam like that. You may have a catastrophic failure if you leave it.

It's a perfecto I believe.

I'm I in trouble here. I've read that this is what you should do?

Cut the foam into the shape of a frame so the trim is resting on the foam and there is no foam under the bottom glass pane.

Foam under a tank is usually only recommended when you have an acrylic tank or a specially made glass tank that actually rests flat on the bottom glass.

When you have a glass tank that rests on only the edge of the tank (the plastic trim that goes around the tank) it is recommended to have it sit right on the wooden stand.

I would recommend contacting Perfecto if that is the manufacturer of your tank. See what they have to say about it. Their advice will trump everyone here.

I know that AGA says not to put any foam under their tanks.

Putting foam under the tank isnt going to make a difference. My 58g tank sat on foam for 2 years, and the total compression was less than 1/32"

This whole "foam will destroy glass tanks" is complete conjecture, and isnt backed up by any real world issues.

Unless you have an 60+" DEEP tank, theres no way that closed cell foam will compress enough under the frame to damage the bottom glass.

I wouldn't worry about the foam one bit. I was at this fish store the other day and all their freshwater and saltwater tanks were supported with cinder blocks. They looked to have around 100 tanks. Check out this pic. I wouldn't worry about the foam under your tank. Anything is better than this.

Yea, I was thinking about email perfecto, and I still may. But, really I don' tthink the foam is creating that much pressure.

There just regular nrmaol output T8's, I have reef-sun 50/50 bulbs running, I really like them. ANd I just installed a set of blue moonlights last night, very cool looking.
