I've personally never run chemipure, and only run carbon occasionally. I find it cheaper to buy large (2L) jars of carbon online :) Carbon can remove excess organic waste and is useful for some treatment regimes (such as using flat worm exit), but don't see a need to run it 24/7/365 unless you have inadequate skimming or LR.

I think its fair to say that Chemi Pure is nothing other than a high tech carbon which is suppose to have a longer shelf life. I used Chemi Pure and didn't have a problems ... didn't notice anything magical either.

I agree with Kevin. I have had the same findings.

I've used Chemi Pure in my overflow sump and my water is super crystal clear. It's a very safe product used by hobbyists and pros a like for years. In fact, it's well respected by most moderators on WWM. It's cheap and another level of insurance for your tank. I highly recommend it and keep it in stock at home.

I use Chemi-Pure a while now. Love it.
Water is crystal clear and the water parameters are great.
Nothing against plain Carbon but Chemi-Pure just does more IMO.

I've used it and it is a good product but you would be well served to just use cheaper carbon because that is mostly what chemipure is.
