does anybody elses house stink...

i just bought a new ballast for my metal halides. after hooking it up and running for about 30 minutes, my house stinks of this burning type smell. i opened the ballast case and it looks fine. my girlfriend reminded me of our first tank did the same thing when we hooked up the lights for the first time. last time the smell lasted for about 4 days or so. has this happen to anybody else or is it just me. this smell gives me a headach.

I'd think that's the wires actually burning. Typically not a good sign in appliances but it may just go away after a few days with lighting.

its not the wires. but i am getting a bit concerned now that knowbody is chimming in with the same problem...
