what should I do. i was drilling the back of my all-glass 29. I drilled 2 holes, and both got what looked like some major chips around the edges.

is it at a major risk of breaking?
Should I worry?
I have it filled outside right now to see if it cracks, but how long should I wait to be safe?

Just really worried and need some advice

i dirlled my 90g and it had some chips.one of them looked like what you are posting,i havent had any problems yet with the tank and its been running about 6 months.did you put a board on the inside of the glass?after my first hole came out bad i drilled the other 4 with a piece of wood clamped to the inside of the tank,it helped eliminate the chips.is it a risk for breaking, well yes............anytime you drill glass you have to assume some risk.i did test fill my tank for a week in my garage for safety.

Well, I am worried about the structure more than anything. this is the first tank I have set up since my 50 gallon cracked. The only place in my house I have for it is over carpet, so I want to be 100% sure that i have nothing to worry about.

Go to a local glass shop, they have some sandpaper thats made for glass. Smooth out the sharp edges, helps prevent any cracking.

I know this is after the fact but did you put duct tape on the inside of the tank before drilling? Also when you drill a tank I have found that as you get almost through if you take some of the weight of the drill off the tank it will not chip if you have duct tape on the inside. I would get some emery cloth and smooth out the edges.

so, sanding it will help keep it from cracking?
