Now that a lot of these smaller headed Duncans have come in (I have a couple) - I'm curious about this one. I got it from Joetbs quite a while ago, its super beautiful - looong tenticles and really flows with the current. I'm not really all that fond of the newer smaller ones, they kind of look boring when they grow out - where these look more like an elegance coral.

I also had a confirmed ORA Duncan but they looked so similar, I just figured they were the same so I sold the ORA. Joe's have been in the US for a long time so I figured they were probably ORA since until recently the ORA one pretty much was the only one.

Anyway, it doesn't matter - I'm not a name kind of a guy but I'm wondering what people opinions are. It looks to me like RandyO's propogation pix of when he grew out his beautiful colony. It is so much different than my Aussie ones, or any Aussie ones I've seen in pix - I wonder if the ORA ones came from somewhere else (IIRC, they have been in the US for a very, very long time - Dustin has posted pix of their massive colonies that have grown out)

Its about the size of a baseball when full opened (under 10K)

But the size of a golf ball when disturbed

Any ideas?

Looks like it very well could be the ORA type.

Looks to me more like the Doctors Foster and Smith Whisker Duncan... My ORA's tentacles stay more blown up than that... Where as my DFS looks exactly like that... They are very similar, but the ORA is slightly larger than the DFS...

Hey Dave... I do still LOVE that Duncan :) Much better pics there :) the Blue and green show better... This is a very old pic of my ORA when she was a baby... just 1 polyp gets to be about golf ball sized and the thing that I have seen that seems to differentiate them is like Randy said the tentacles are big and THICK... they always stay thick on mine... I wonder if maybe they get longer if they get hungry perhaps?
