I am thinking of expanding my plumbing set-up. Is it ok to mix and match unions from different manufacturers?

Thanks

I have done this before, just make sure that the union tightens down like it should and that the gasket is being pressed and things should be ok. There are some unions that will not match up correctly with other halves, so make sure or you will have leaking problems.

I can say that the Spears union from Marine Depot does not match the oneat Home Depot

Match the brands. In PVC it should be ok due to the rubber O ring. Any metal to metal (for plumbing use) should never be mismatched. Always change the whole union on copper or black pipe.

make sure you are putting SCH40 with SCH40. the SCH40 and SCH80 are totally different sizes.
