I am in need os some info on the right sand for my 75 gallon reef tank in progress. I am looking to have a shallow bed say 1-2" deep. What is the best size to use in terms of mm? Should I go with something in the .1-1mm size or something a bit larger up to 2mm? Which of these sands are "better"?

On the Arag-Alive....is there any performance difference between the fiji pink and the special grade sands (is the fiji pink really pink)? What exactly is a "berlin" system as mentioned in the info under the Arag-Alive. Thanks for the link intensive read. Any thoughts and opinions are (as always) greatly appreciated.

I'd not spend the money on live sand. Instead I'd get a good grade of aragonite. I went with the Fiji Pink.

Ditto on skipping the "live" sand. I have a DSB and I went with Aragamax sugar-sized.

If you're planning on getting any critters that sift or burrow in sand (gobies, wrasses, etc.), you'll want to consider a finer grain.
