i have three hydometers testing the same tank, a Instant Ocean, another instant ocean and an odyssea. all are swinging arm hydrometers and they read 1.024, 1.025, and 1.020 (for the odyssea hydometer).so which one should i believe?

I am leaning towards instant ocean

Have you cleaned them? Might also want to make a calibration solution so you can see which one if closest to accurate (there's a recipe in the Chemistry forum). Or, avoid all of this and buy a refractometer.

hydrometers are like that. A refractometer will give you a correct reading, and this can be life or death for your specimens.
