Are bubbles in the sand normal and expected for a new tank? My tank is about 4 weeks old. I noticed the bubbles started appearing at about the same time I started getting algae on the sand. They seem like they have been getting larger. Not sure if I should aggitate the sand to release them or just let nature take it's course. THANKS!!

Totally normal. That is nitrification in action. A good sign your tank is doing well. In any event, you should never disturb a deep sand bed. Let your cleanup crew do its thing and all will be fine. ;)

You don't want them to go away. They are both normal and beneficial.

Umm... sorry, but I have a question. I'm planning on having a jawfish, so I was going to put a deep sand bed in part of the tank, and the typical one inch of fine sand everywhere else. Should I stir the fine sand, but not the DSB?
