I am trying to control an outbreak of cyano in my 3 month old 14g biocube. I have adjusted the flow, am trying to not overfeed. my params are fine, other than nitrates being at around 7.5. i change about 10% of the water every week.

I have some chaeto in the main part of the tank, but I am reading many posts about it being in the sump. is there any reason, other than asthetics to have it in one of the rear compartments of the biocube? would it be more effective in the sump?

thanks.

no, it doesnt matter, have you tried adding more flow? what is your stocking? phosphates?

The chaeto will do little for your cyano issues. Limiting nutrients including the nitrates, more flow, more skimming and perhaps trying the lights out for 3 days trick will all help. ;)

with having the lights out for 3 days will that do harm to any of the corals?

nope, just like its been said to me before. there are cloudy days in the ocean, so to have the lights out for a few days shouldn't harm anything. Just be sure to easy your tank back into having the lights on.

Slime remover if everything else fails.
