Solar flare questions

1. I would be placing this over a eurobraced tank. Hanging it, or mounting it with brakets would be my options. What do you reccomend? How much clearance do the risers give you? How are they fixed?

2. How many switches on this fixture?

3. Bulb reccomendation for reef?

1) It really is up to you. Either would work very well for your tank. The riser brackets lift the fixture 2 1/4" off the tank. They attach to the fixture using the existing screws that hold the endcaps in place.

2) The Solar Flare has two switches and three power cords. The first switch (green) powers 4 rows (rows 1, 3, 4, & 6) of the T5s and one of the fans while the second switch (amber) powers 2 rows (rows 2 & 5) of T5s and the second fan. The first two power plugs coincide with the first two switches. The third power plug is for the moonlights.

3) This is really a matter of personal preference. I can offer some suggestions.

Row 1) Aquaz Ocean Pro or UVL Actinic White or ATI Aquablue Special
Row 2) Aquaz Blue Pro or UVL Super Actinic or ATI Blue Plus
Row 3) Aquaz Ocean Pro or UVL Actinic White or ATI Aquablue Special
Row 4) Sylvania 6500K or GE 6500K
Row 5) Aquaz Blue Pro or UVL Super Actinic or ATI Blue Plus
Row 6) Aquaz Ocean Pro or UVL Actinic White or ATI Aquablue Special

If you want a more blue/white look replace Row 3 with another actinic.

So I ordered a solar flare from Salty Critter. They said a 3-4 week wait for black. Is this the case for most places?

Blue is in stock, I wonder how good it looks over a black tank? The hood looks great, im just not sure on my tank though.

Yes, business is moving along well. As for the Black Solar Flare, I do believe this is the case for the back order. Blue would look very nice but it is a matter of person preference.

Yes, still 3-4 weeks back order on the Solar Flares (Black and Blue) I'm not quite sure who still has stock. You can call around and find out. I think Salty Critter might still have one.
