View Full Version : A couple 72" Constellation questions

I have a 125 gallon, 72' tank (all-glass) with 2 braces on the top. Braces are not in the middle, they are in 3rd's. Can the 72" constellation fixture sit on the top of the tank with no heat issues to these braces? I worry about melting, cracking, etc.

I may also put a canopy over the fixture. Is this an issue? Any suggestions on ventilation?

Also, what would be a good bulb setup for a mixed reef. I currently have on another tank 2 actinic VHO and 2 12k reeflux 250w Halides. I do like a hint of blue. But not too much.

Thank for your time!

SilverOne,

Yes. You can rest the fixture on your tank without worrying about hurting your braces. The fixture runs very cool.

If you want to use a canopy, just make sure to add vent holes on both ends of the canopy to allow for a proper airflow for the fixture.

I've mentioned this before, lamp choices is a matter of personal preference, but here's a suggestion you might want to look into.

Front:
1) Aquaz Ocean Pro or UVL Actinic White or ATI Aquablue Special
2) Aquaz Blue Pro or ATI Blue Plus
3) UVL AquaSun or (for a more blue look) UVL 75/25 14K
4) UVL Super Actinic or Aquaz Blue Pro or ATI Blue Plus
5) UVL AquaSun or (for a more blue look) UVL 75/25 14K
6) Aquaz Blue Pro or ATI Blue Plus
7) Aquaz Ocean Pro or UVL Actinic White or ATI Aquablue Special

Thank you,

Tom

Thanks for the help and advice. Appreciate it. :)

I'll have to post some pictures once I get the new tank set up. :D
