I recently purchased a 36" TX5 and found that it wasn't working with most of those plug-in type GFCI's I tried. I even tried a few of the GFCI plugs around the apartment and a few of those failed as well. I heard that Leviton GFCI's work well with lighting ballasts. Since I live in apartment I couldn't replace outlets, so I wanted to make my own portable GFCI. So with the help of my thread here (http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1164861) I put together my own portable GFCI that works. The GFCI outet I used is a Leviton SmartLockPro. These even have a handy-dandy feature that trips the GFCI and won't allow it to reset if you wired it wrong, so it's pretty fool-proof even for electric work rookies like myself. So if your fixture is tripping GFCI's, give this a try.
