My BTA is splitting. Per advice from Bluecarpet (who only knew that it was a brand new arrival to my tank, I didn't know what it was doing at the time), I have offerred it fairly small (about 1/4 size of mouth slit) pieces of shrimp. Twice last night, once just now. Last night I placed the shrimp on the oral disc near the mouth. One disappeared when I wasn't looking? And one the BTA investigated and then let roll off several times without trying to move it towards the mouth. Today it aggressively grabbed the piece of shrimp before I reached the oral disc, moved it very close to the mouth and then dropped it onto the sand. Tentacles are right next to the shrimp piece, but the BTA seems not to care/know/whatever.

So, do BTA eat during splitting?

Not to my knowledge. Mine didn't eat for about a week after it split.
