I have started a project aside from my 70g reef. I plan on building a 16x16x16 cube out of 1/4" glass. There will be a 10g sump.

i want to make the over flow and return completely hidden while retaining a 360 view of the tank. LR will not touch any of the sides and will cover the pluming.

something like this:

I have seen it somewhere but i don't know the specs

if anyone could help
it would be much appreciated

Just FYI .. Oceanic makes a 16 X 16 X 16 cube and petsmart sells them. I think i may have noticed approx 1/4 inch glass in this cube I saw there the other day. may save you some trouble, but if your handy with glass and silicone, you'll probably save money DIY.

P.S. Not sure of the trim color options other than black

thanks
but i don't want the trim
and my petsmart doesn't sell them

and do they make an oceanic cube with and over flow and return in the middle?

OK...the problem with your setup is that the overflow is positioned way too low. The only way it would work right now is if you had it connected to a closed system (aka a cannister filter). If you're planning to have a sump, then raise up the overflow, preferably above the return. Basically, the tallest thing in the tank should be the overflow, and it must be below the rim of the glass (for obvious reasons). It dictates your waterlevel in-tank.

Drilling two holes that close to each other may weaken the glass a lot, so be careful. Personally I'd silicon a piece of acrylic over (and maybe under?) the area where you are going to drill. Make it big enough to completely encompass what you're drilling. Goodluck.

I think you are looking for something like this (http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/index.php?s=&showtopic=71625&view=findpost&p=672703) over on nano-reef.com.

Check the previous pages of the thread for equipment specs. It does use a canister filter.

It's a pretty nice setup.

Edit: looks like Ninjafish is also on RC, so you can find threads about his tanks here.

Didn't check the link but I'm going to assume something like Fish's rimless tank?

Didn't check the link but

You can only be blamed for your own actions :)

One and the same. I just hadn't seen him over on RC until now... And Ninjafish = Fish.

i have decided on an island overflow box
and the return will be plumed through somewhere in the middle of the overflow
then loc line will be added to create a circular flow around the tank
