Hi all, I was wondering if anyone out there has some experience with frag placement under T5s. The fixture is the four-bulb tek light from sunlight supply, with 2 giesmann actinic +, 1 aquablue, and 1 GE daylight. The tank is a 58g oceanic (36L, 18W, 21H). The corals are:
Monitpora digitata
M. capricornis
M. confusa
ORA scripps Acropora millepora
ORA Birdsnest
I'm assuming the millepora should go as high as I can manage, but I am curious if anyone out there has experience with the montiporas....DrF&S suggests the confusa will need more light than the others...Any experience out there? Thanks! BTW, there are pics of the frags in my gallery:rollface: .

The montis will do well anywhere in the tank. The birdsnest can go anywhere in the tank, but I would put it close to the top for the best colors... top 6" of the tank if possible. Start with it down below and give it lots of flow... then move it up slowly. I have never seen a coral more sensitive to light changes than a birdsnest. I would do the scripps the same FWIW. Millis come from all light zones... some of the best looking ones do best under medium to lower light it seems. I dont have scripps that I know of, but I have three types of 'pink' millipora, and two that are partly pink (purple w/ pink polyps and pink w/ blue tips), and every one looks its best right at the top of the tank... just dont shock them or anything. But I would slowly adapt them to being as close to the top as possible. Also, even though the T5s spread out the light more, keep in mind that the center will still be brighter than the sides.

I have a 30 gal with a 6 bulb Tek on it and I find my pink birdsnest loves as much light as you can throw at it...the green does not - on the bottom works well. Also, my millies seem to bleach out if I put them high. At mid level, they are beautiful. The upper section of my tank is composed of samoensis, stags and any other light loving coral. HTH:)
