I was wondering if low water pressure and no booster pump for your RO/DI unit, effect the quality of water coming out of the unit. Also will it damage the filters? I was wondering due to the premature wear on my DI filter. I just replaced the filter and 2 months later its bad a very strong fishy smell and TDS of 6. I only make about 10 gallons of Aquarium water on non water change weeks and about 20 gallons on water change weeks. Not days but weeks. With my water pressure, I can only do about 5 gallons in roughly 4 to 5 hours. So my question will be since I have really low water pressure could that have damaged my DI filter and if I add a booster pump will tha addition solve my DI filter problem?
I am trying to get some ammo to back me up when I tell my wife that I need to pick up another part that is over $100. :rolleye1:

Wife approval factor is always important. With a 75 GPD you should be getting better production and pressure would most likely be the issue. Your DI resin is exhausting fast because you membrane is performing poorly. What is the TDS of your tap water and your RO water after the system has been running for several minutes?

The tap water is 616ppms and the RO water is 43ppms. DOn't know if this good or not.

High tap water TDS and your getting a rejection rate of 93%. If your water chemistry was perfect with no CO2 you would get about 100 gallons of pure water from your horizontal before exhaustion. If you do not have an inline check valve on your system your tank water is coming back and also exhausting you resin with TDS creep water. The water tank may also be creating back pressure on your membrane causing poor performace. I would recommend a pressure gauge and check valve so you really know where your at before considering a pump.

Where will the check valve go?

Look at our instructions page at five and six stage check valve. The drawing with the water tank is how you want to set your system up with the check valve.
