I realize the question about heat was a lack of being informed about t5 lighting. I have now scoured the forums and want an opinion. I am going to go with a 90 that is 25 inches deep. I will have a 2 to 3 inch sand bed. Is the solar Flare the only fixture that will allow me o easily keep sps and some lps on the bottom of will the constellation do the job. I by the way love the blue solar flare but I want to make sure I do not buy to much light.

gulinias,

Either fixture would work very well for your tank and the corals you are planning on keep. The Solar Flare would not be too much light and the Constellation would be more then enough. If you like the Blue Solar Flare, then go for it. You will get the added benefit of the moonlights with the Solar Flare.

Thank you,

Tom

I am trying to make the same decision also. My tank is 48 long, 24 deep and 31 high. Which is preferred for this depth? And, what is the optimal mix of lights?

I got to say either one will work it's just a matter of do you want moonlights? I like them both ( I should I make them) but for the tank mentioned above go with the Constellation if you don't need moonlights. Both will work and with the switches there is the option of not turning on everything at once. So you would not have to much light.

I definitely want moonlights, so I reckon I'll go with the Solar Flare. I don't have a clue regarding light mix, though. Like 2 actinincs, etc. I would like to be able to keep SPS, clams & LPS on the sand if I wanted to.

Many thanks,
Rick

Rick,

There are many combinations of T5 lamps that you could use. It really is a matter of personal preference. Here's a combination that is good to start off with for the Solar Flare.

FRONT
1) Aquaz Ocean Pro or UVL Actinic White
2) Aquaz Blue Pro or ATI Blue Plus or UVL Super Actinic (03)
3) Sylvania 6500K or GE 6500K or UVL 75/25 (for a more white/purple look)
4) Aquaz Ocean Pro or UVL Actinic White
5) Aquaz Blue Pro or ATI Blue Plus or UVL Super Actinic (03)
6) Aquaz Ocean Pro or UVL Actinic White
BACK

Any combination of the above will give you a great starting point.

Thank you,

Tom
