How should I handle trimming/cutting my Chaeto? It is in my 30 gallon sump and it has totally taken over my refuge section...I was wondering if I should do something about it. All the little filter feeding inverts, worms, and pods seem to love it. I didn't want to disturb them; but it is getting to the point of out of control...
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Many just remove handfuls of it. Some sell it or give it away.

That's the process. You need to remove some of the Chateo to remove some of the nitrates it consumes.

My Dragonface eats the pods I suck up from my fuge every once in a while...I see him mostly picking at the rocks on little bugs/pods...he's doing well.

I have the same size fuge and the same type of algae. I would pull out 2/3's of it. If you are worried about losing pods that are in it. remove the amount you want and put it in a bucket of tank water... shake it out and then put the water back in the fuge or tank.

I would half it and give it to someone who needs it locally or sell it for slightly over shipping costs online.
Great looking tank, but i think the tang police have a ticket with your name on it.

Thank you for you comment; I understand about the tang police...lol...for some time now. I've had the guy for about a year and a half; I saved him from my LFS when he had a horrible case of MHLLE. Now he's doing great and is very happy.
Once I upgrade my skimmer; finish my Bachelor's at CSUN, I am upgrading to a 120 gallon. He'll be in paradise then...
