QT set up-up for a clam/sps

I'd like to set-up a QT tank for a clam purchase I'd like to make as well as SPS. Although my 55g display tank has (2) 250 watt MHs I'd like to avoid the expense of them on a QT tank if at all possible and I'd like the ease of a tank that can be broken down when not in use.

If I use eggcrate shelves to bring stock up close to the lights what would your recommendation be for a small set-up? Still need T5s with individual reflectors?

Although I'd like to not spend a fortune on the QT tank I also want to be sure it is appropriate for supporting a clam or SPS during QT.
