View Full Version : What background to use for BB tank?

Hi guys.

Am just starting up my first marine tank and i think im gunna go BB.I was just woundering what people are using under their tanks when going BB?Just the poly or are they painting them or using something else.Cheers:cool:

Eventually, it won't matter. Your rock is going to hide a lot of the bottom, and eventually coralline algae will cover the rest.

Most people I know let the aglea take over and cover the bottom. I didn't realy like the look of completely BB so I added like an inch or two of sand.

I use HDPE (starboard, cutting board, etc). It gives a nice clean look when it is new, and will eventually become part of the scenery when covered with coralline.

I just ordered a custom cut HDPE board for my newest tank.


edit: I forgot, you were referring to the background. Mine has a dark window tint type material on it.
