Looking for a DIY Auto top-off unit that I can pick most of the stuff from my local sLowes or Homeless Depot. I am going on vacation this weekend and would like to rig one up so that the tank setter doesn't have to keep topping it off. one less thing for them to screw up. Thanks!

Get a friend to tank sit.. I would never try a DIY top-off right before I left town.. Not saying you can't built one pretty easy, But it would probably be smart to monitor the tank for several days to make sure it works..

Now there are several ready built one's that work great. They range from 35-250.. I like the JBJ ATO for 99.99.. I've got a couple and they work great.. autotopoff.com sells some pretty good ones if you want something cheaper..

I agree with 8ball, not the best time to try something new.
I have built my ATO using 2 float switches, a relay and a timer set to 1min at few times per day. It cost me about 20$ all in all to do and it has worked flawlessly so far(1year).
