So I'm going to try to frag some Ricoridas, and I have fragged several mushrooms before with great results. My question is there anything else besides the basic cut like a pizza stragity that I should employ with Ricoridas or is it just buisness as usual.

Also are Ricoridas more apt to grow slower than "regular" mushrooms.

ya you can frag the same , but Ricoridas will need more heal time then normal shrooms

I usually frag rics when there are two mouths and cut between those mouths. If there is a single mouth id suggest splitting the ric in two pieces and not 4+. just my .02

I cut my two-mouth ric in half then got 3 pieces from one and two from the othe (5 total)

This is my first fragging ric experience. I will let you know how it goes.

Good I hope. The frag pieces are only 2 days old.

how long do they take to heal back up?

Well, 4 of my 5 ricordia frags have dissolved away. So I am now back down to one tiny ric fragged from a 2 mouth ricordia. I think that this was a mistake.
I don't know what could have gone wrong here to lose 4 of them.

One of my rics somehow got "shredded" in my tank into about 8+ pieces. I placed in small bowl, covered with window screen, in my tank. Also added about 1/2 inch of sand. I had 7 little rics survive. They're about 1/4 inch each now.

Well, 4 of my 5 ricordia frags have dissolved away.

Well, on a good note. The rock that I cut the original ricordea from is growing another.

I wasn't sure if it would come back because I couldn't even see if there was any "foot" left.

Yesterday, I noticed nothing, today there is a definite fluorescent round ric growing back That is just so cool.
So, If my lone surviving frag stays alive, then I am back to two.

Thanks for the above link. There was nothing on that prop section that I didn't do. My only thought is that...
1. the ric was just too small
2. it was really difficult to cut (even with a sharp razor) as I may have done some damage to them
3. they probably got an infection of some sort.

What is the recommended size that a ric should be before fragging? Like a 50 cent piece?

That's nice. What was its original size?

update on my frag attempt:

one frag still alive and a new one, possily 2 regrowing from the rock I took the original ricordia from. I I end up with 3, I will be happy.

I will make sure to not frag them until they are at least the size of a 50 cent piece since they shrink down so much when disturbed.

how fast does it take for a ric to grow? Also how long once you but a 50 cent piece sized ric will it take to grow back two whole 50 sized pieces?
