From you website: "The LM3-TCM is an optional level sensor that interrupts power to the LiterMeter IIIā„¢ when a high water level is detected."

How does the Top-off Control Module work exactly?
Does it also have a fail safe like setting the maximum amount of water that can be added a day?

There is an electric pressure switch that is connected to an upside-down test tube with some airline tubing. The test tube is mounted on the sump wall. When water rises up around the tube, the increased pressure shuts the pressure switch off and breaks the connection to the LM3.

It is up to you to set a reasonable amount on the LM3.

I set mine up by overshooting the true amount needed to top off, but not by so much that it would flood right away. That said, level hasn't risen past the top off module yet - if anything, summer evap has made me increase the amount pumped daily.
