Photoperiod Question

Hey guys.

Will this lighting period have any negative consequences?

Having MHs come on from 8am - 3pm (7 hrs)
Then from 3pm until 10pm just have the VHO actinics on.

Is this too much lighting? I really love the actinic look of my tank, so I like only the actinics to be on when I get home from work and until I sleep.

Id probably try to take it to 5 or 6pm with MHs, but really it comes down to your corals. given that they are SPS, I dont think 7 hours would cut it.

Question is more for having the VHO actinics on for so long. I can do 8 hrs for the MHs, so from 8am to 4pm, which is what most people do, but is it ok to have VHOs on from 8am to 10pm?

I run my atinics 12 on 12 off and my MH run for 8hrs in between. giving dusk/dawn effect 2 hrs before halides and 2 hrs after. My fuge lights run 12hr oppisite display lights.

MH on an SPS tank with a 6-8 photoperiod does cut it. You can run it w/o the actinic supplementation with great results.
