Anyone have any experience with this?
I live in California and am wondering what people have done.

L bracket or water-heater strap the tank stand to a wall.
If its a major earthquake, all bets are off :)

I make sure that the tank cannot just slide off the top of the stand and secure the stand against the wall.
I have survived a few smaller quakes.
Against a bigger one, one has to brace the top of the tank with a frame or strip and secure against the wall.
Nothing would help if a very big one hits, IMO, but may be in a borderline case half of the water will spill and many livestock can still be saved.
Quakes do not move the ground all in the same way, I think. Even in a large quake, there can be more a swaying movement than strong jolts.

I imagine Acrylic tanks are very popular along the fault lines.

If an earthquake hits large enough to move or tumble tank off stand.
The tank will be the least of my worries. :eek1:

I just hope my tank doesn't fall on my foot....
Also a concern would be the sump cracking and spilling water on electrical equipments (like ballast and surge suppressors sitting on the floor..)

I don't know about your tank falling over or anything. The quake needs to be huge to knock a tank over. However I am afraid that one day a quake will crack my main tank.
