Found a couple of worms like this today. They were crawling on my class just above the sandbed. I slurped on out with my baster and put it into a plastic container for pictures. It is able to swim like a snake. The worms seem to have some 'bristles' to them, but I've not seem my normal bristleworms on the glass.

Sorry the pictures are blurry, I'm still learning to use the camera - at least you can tell color from them.

This picture appears to show a fork/antenna at one end of the worm, but I think that's an artifact of my lack of camera skills.

I know the pictures aren't much to go on, but any ID hints are appreciated.

Here's a slightly better image.

These worms have been out in the daylight, cruising around on my glass and rocks. I'm pretty sure they're harmless, if only because the little I have in the tank isn't being harmed, but I'm wondering what their diet might be.

You can almost see the 'head' area in this shot (is it the head?). There's a definite 'neck' separating the 'head' from the body. The 'head' is quite rectangular, with a couple longish antennae coming out the front. THere also seem to be some protuberances coming out the sides of the head.

I'll keep working on my photography skills...

Thanks for the new pic. It's good enough for me to know it's a polychaete worm in the family Dorvilleidae. Small members of the family are micrograzers & predators on animals smaller than themselves. Nothing to worry about.

So it might be eating algae films, it might be eating the little pods. That's about what I figured, since there's nothing else for it to eat!

thanks for the ID!
