Thought I would share one of my many mishaps in converting my 20 gal FW to a Reef tank.
When installing glass overflows, make sure that whatever you use for a spacer can get out (IE over the plastic tank rim) once the silicone cures. In my case it was an aluminum ballast case. Long story short, if you ever want to cut out the rim of a tank, heat a long razor blade with a blow torch..... and as the saying goes, it's like a hot knife through butter.
