How Do You Know When Disease Is Gone?

Lost my fish to velvet. My tank has been without host (fish) for 3 1/2 weeks now.

Just wondering if there is a way of testing to see if my velvet has died...

No other fish. My last fish died 3.5 weeks ago and since there has only been my cleanup crew and 2 cleaner shrimp.

65 gal, 20 gal sump, ER RS100 skimmer...

I suspect many would say leave your tank w/o fish for about six weeks.

I agree with kevin2000, 6 weeks is good, but if you could wait I would do 8 weeks with no fish just to be sure all parasites are gone.
