Hi guys I have a three stage filter.
THe only problem is that can't find a replacement filter cartridge
It is a 2 gallon aquarium and I was thinking about upgrading my filter.
What do you think would be a good filter to get?

well, for a simple filter you could get an aquaclear 20 or 30 filter. first, get rid of the bio-balls or whatever biological filtration they come with. an option is to use the sponge (that's provided and extra cartridges are easy to find) at the very bottom of the filter, some small rubble in the middle and some filter floss on top. also, run some carbon every once in a while to get rid of the impurities.

you could also make a tiny fuge with small pieces of rubble and some cheato...make sure to have some lighting on it though.

hope this helps.

Ya.
Also why would you get rid of the bio balls?
Is it because they cause high nitrates?
Also, what is filter floss?

generally speaking, bio-balls and reefing don't mixed because they do tend to cause a build up of detritus and nitrates.

filter floss kind of looks like pillow fill. you can usually get it at your LFS in bulk. you'd be surprised all the little stuff it gets...and it captures alot.

Oh and I got a new filter, it's huge.
It doesn't have bio balls, but has a "bio screen" should this be removed?
