View Full Version : Does a Sunset Anthia need other Anthias?

I'm thinking of getting a Sunset Anthia (Pseudanthias parvirostris) but I've gotten mixed responses as to whether they would need other anthias to do well. Anyone have any experience with them?

It would be the only anthia in the tank (maybe I'll get one more)

If I am correct, unless they come as a group, they should be kept single. I have one with 4 other anthias and they totally ignore each other

A single will be fine by itself. If it is a single female chances are over time it will change to male.

Thanks. I had to ask because multiple times I've heard the mantra that anthias need to be kept in groups.
Carl and Bret - Do you keep singles? Any noticeable problems?

I have no singles. My anthias are in groups. I have a group parvirostris in QT, 1 male and three females. My lori's are a group of two. Thats my smallest group.

CarlC - Thanks for your help. I saw your posts and pics in another ANthia Thread. Thanks for all the support!
I'm thinking the Dispars may be a better fit for my tank as they seem more peaceful and possibly require less space/maintenance than the parvirostris and the fathead...
