can i mix live sand.....

im upgrading to a larger tank. and i have live sand in my current tank... can i mix it with normal tank sand ? or will it mess things up ?

It will actually seed the new sand.

Many people buy the normal sand at the pet store and then 'borrow' a cup of sand from an established reef to seed the new sand.

awesome stuff. didnt want to have to buy more live sand. that crap isnt cheap.i got £20 of free stuff with the new tank. so ill get some sand . haha

There has been controversy on reusing sand from one tank to the other I have seen a lot of people say it is bad when you disrupt the sand bed it releases the nitrates that have been accumulated in them. Most people start new and seed the new with a small amount of the old sand. Personaly I have done it once and didn't have any problems. HTH
