Im considering making a diy kalk reactor what will be some benefits of adding one to my system?

automated top off if you don't already have one, elevated pH levels (some tanks need that), it's a cheap Ca/Alk supplement, and a good kicker is that even with the use of a CaCO3/CO2 reactor, i see better growth from corals and coralline with the addition of Kalk occasionaly.......i'm sure there are others too.
