I'm sure everyone has seen all the nasty things water damage does to the inside of a stand over time....

What is the best way to fix that? I have a stand that I'm going to sand down inside, but what sort of protectants/sealants should I put over the wood so that it doesn't start to warp more in the future?

epoxy paint thats used for boats would work i would think

i dont' really want to paint over it though. I'd like to keep it looking like natural wood inside. I'm just wondering if there's a lacquer, or something similar that would keep it from sucking up a lot of the moisture

You could put a couple of coats of marine varnish.

That is what I used. It does leave a yellowish tint to it. So I Covered it with a high gloss white. It looks really clean and when i spill water wipes up with no effort at all.

I used a stain with a high oil content, and gave it an extra coat. Plus, I really really soaked it into the butt ends of the legs where water would accumulate if it ran down the legs.
