schooling cardinals, chalk bass and fridmani/springeri/sanjkei basslets (tank raised and I know that I butcherd that spelling).

well they are really shoaling not schooling cardinals but close enough. The threadfins are my favorite along with blue-sided (look kind of the same).

I'm one of those people that just can't have a reef tank w/o a clownfish. Personally, my staple reef fish. :)

O and tailspot blennies are awesome also...

sixline or yellow coris wrasse should be included.

lawnmower blenny can help with controlling algae if you're not planning on a tang. They are quite animated as well.

Nice Looking Wrasse!!

I'm looking at a pair of carpenter flashers for my BioCube 29.

I'm just looking for a second opinion on them, because I have done a lot of research.

The largest and most colorful of the male's. He always seems to display when its feeding when my hand goes in the tank...LOL You should see my pair of Laboutei's fairies they are just gorgeous. I also have a supermale Rhomboid wrasse. I am trying to find girls for both my lineatus and rhomboid. But they aren't that easy to get.

Love the choices so far with a few reservations. I would go with a pair of true or flase percs, a harem of 3 or 4 carpenter's wrasse, one of the comical blennies, a pair of shrimp gobies, and maybe some dartfish. Depending on the corals you plan to keep I might take a chance on a small angelfish as a centerpiece fish as well.

I never got the fascination with fairy wrasses. It seems people love them but they always look sickly to me. The coloration is nice but they are kinda slow moving and without much personality.

Deltecrules,
You have all of those wrasses in a 55 gallons tank? do they fight each other at all? Can you post some more pics of your laboutie wrassses. How do you tell the different between a male labouti and a female one?

Thanks,

JGwhite
I like lyretail anthias, you can have like a 1 male and 2 female in that tank. I have a trio of them now and they are great... but my tank is too small at the moment

chocolate mimic tang
neon goby
yellow watchman goby
lyretail anthias

If your tank can support it I would get a yellow head jawfish. I just got 2 for my ten gallon (I didn't order 2, but thats what I got) and even though they have barely come out yet I absolutely love'em.

They are moved to my 75 gallon and someday to a 120 gallon. They don't fight at all bu they do like to display and flare at ach other when its dinner time!! The male laboutei is bigger about 2 inches bigger, has more blue and yellow than the female. The male also has a pointy anal fin on the bottom while the female doesn't.

LOL have you ever owned one? I have owned quite a few of them in the past. They aren't slow movers at all. They jet across the tank and display lots of color to the reeftank. The ones I have owned showed alot of personality. Mine loves to be hand fed and follows me around like a puppy dog looking for attention when I am doing some things to the tank. Have you seen the large fairy wrasse thread in the reef fish forum. Seems to be pretty popular for a sickly and supposed slow moving fish

I might actually have to try a few fairy wrasse!

Will they be okay for a 29 gallon?

If I could choose, and I have, at 54g, I'd have a collection of all the gobies I could get, plus some blennies of a compatible sort. Gobies get along; blennies are a little fussy. The secret is doing a rockwork that affords multiple 'houses' so these tiny creatures can claim a territory of their own. You want your reef to be scaled so you can imagine a long, long stretch of it, politics and all, gobies are great.

The yellow clown goby, Mandrin gobies, and Dragon goby (people love watching it sift sand) get much attention from people viewing the tank. My youngest daughter loves the scooter blenny.

Everyone likes the porcupine puffer, but they all want it too puff up. It can be annoying for me to hear them go on about "make it puff up" like its a game and you should stress the fish for their enjoyment.

Heck, I like all the fish...my least favorite at this moment is my Maroon Stripped Clown, her mate died about 8 months ago and when I tried to replace him she ate it (well bit off enough of him to kill it even with using a fry cage with the male for a couple days before releasing him). I want a pair of clowns but do not want to put another male in for her to terrorize. May end up putting her in the sump/refuge and pick up a different more friendly sort of clown.

Try Percula or Ocellaris. They are nice and calm and won't bother each other!

If you can get a mated pair, even better.
