what kind of light system do i need for a 30g if i am going to be keeping corals?

It all depends on what you want to keep. Probably at least 130watts to 150 should suffice. That would give you 4-5 watts per gallon. Power compacts or T-5 lighting should be good.

Don't waste your money on Power compacts. Go with T5 or Metal Halide. For a 30 Gal, I personally would go with T5HO (4 bulbs)

do i need blue and white bulbs?
do i need a new canester? cuz mine is a single bulb and it only has a 20w now.
and an approximate cost plz?

AND IF I UPGRADE TO A 55 CAN I USE THE SAME ONES?

I have been running 4X54 Watt T5's on my 75 for almost a year and have all kinds of corals of the LPS and Softie types and have no problem
