View Full Version : filter feeding crab/shrimp

I've seen some sort of crab/shrimp which has what looks like little feather dusters on its first two legs. It opens the dusters/filters to catch tiny particles then quickly brings them back to it's mouth to eat whatever it's catching. My original thought was a decorator crab which had small feather dusters on it's arms but a closer look revealed the filters were actually part of its arms and it was clearly using them to feed on particles in the water column. I'd like to get one but don't know what they are. Can anyone help? Sorry I don't have any pics, only my breif description.
