I know that it depends on how you aquascape...but how much live rock should I put in an aquarium that is 48x24x28? Just trying to get an idea of the budget unvolved.
Thanks

IMO it doesnt really depend on how you aquascape, other than the fact that the bottom of the base rocks will be covered in sand so i'm not sure how well they'll filter on those spots..

Anyways, ditto what kevin said. Most say at least a pound per gallon...more will obviously be better, less wont give you quite as much filtering capacity.

Also, you can go with half live rock and half dead/base rock...its cheaper that way and in a couple months everything will turn live anyways, so you'll get the same results (just a bit slower maybe).

ha...ya on that tank i'd DEFINITELY be buying half dry rock and half live. No way could i afford all 140 pounds of live w/my wallet! :)

thats true too, i have a lot of tufa rock, and some live rock. Cyled my tank with it that way. Now all my tufa"dead" rock is live, and it is way cheaper.
Unless you go with semi cured you can get that cheap sometimes, but still looking at $4 a pound probably.
