New to Arizona-Advise

Hello everyone. I moved from MA to AZ and living in Phoenix now and trying to find a good reef store. All we seem to have here are petco's and petsmart's. Not much of a choice. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm going through "reef withdrawls" and need to set up my tank. Thanks :D

Cool :) . I just spent 6 months in BO (previously spent 2 years long time ago).

My top list:
* About the reef (great live rocks and corals)
* Pet Inc (great fish selection and accessories)
* Aqua Touch (healthy and wide selection of fish)

I went to "about the reef" awesome store, nice selections and they have classes on fragging and reef chemistry. Awesome. Need to find 90 gal reef ready aquarium now and get the process started. woo hoo. Can't wait to visit the other stores.

About the Reef and AquaTouch are great. I like About the Reef better as they always have some sort of sale on the weekends with drygoods or livestock or both.

I live in Bisbee, AZ which is 3 hrs from Phx, but went to visit last week and was told about 3 places from another member. 1) Aquarium Arts in Mesa, 2) Aqua Touch in Phx, 3) Petco at Stapley & Baseline is the only nice store that has surprising nice SWF. I'm new to SW but these three were very nice. :rollface: NBZAK

Visit the Local Reef Club forums here on RC, there are 3 or 4 local forums. Also check out www.azfrag.com the local reefing community. There is a large FRAG swap/trade/sell meeting next weekend, the 15th in Scottsdale. You might plan on visiting even if you are not ready for anything just to meet the rest of us Reef Nuts around here!

thanks so much, the AZFRAG sight is nice. will be joining that. i found a few people who also mentioned ocean art, but seems like they are closed (out of business) they used to be on ray and 48th in PHX. I saw the sign but doors were shut. trying to get info. did they move or done for good.

They closed up. Palijets new store is very close to there though I believe. The info is on the Arizona FRAG forum.

About The Reef is awsome, have always loved them. Skip is the man. Aquarium Arts is great too, ask for Greg. Never been to Aqua Touch. As for Pets Inc, I used to work there, is is also a great store. Cheap corals and lots for frags.

i must admit, the service we have gotten from about the reef has been nothing less than extraordinary. a friend and i set up his 20 long under his kitchen counter, looks awesome. I set up a fish (well seahorse :-) ) only 35 hex for my wife. When we return, We will be putting together the 90gal. I'll keep everyone posted. Thanks so much for all the info so far.

i cannot wait to get back to sierra vista arizona, i can go to pets west where they have saltwater stuff (to bad most of the really nice stuff they have to order) oh well i can drive to tuscon or phoenix to get stuff that is no problem :D . i will be so glad when i can finally get back there oklahoma stinks

az sea bottom in phx has a great selection of liverock now. no fish yet but shouldn't be long.
