i just upgraded to a larger QT tank which has dead sand and dead rock in it. it has just finished the cycle and im ready to get my next group of fish for QT and hypo before adding them to my display. the reason im using sand in the tank is because im wanting to add a pair of jawfish to my display tank.
anyways...my question is how can i keep the sandbed clean without having a clean up crew? will i just have to run the tank for 8 weeks of hypo and hope the waste doesnt build up too much? are there any inverts that are safe to add if im going to be doing hypo such as crabs or shrimps? maybe something that can survive in brakish water? is there a fish that eats waste from the sandbed? any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated!
