Is live rock necessary???

Can I setup a 350ltr reef with just base rock, a good skimmer, and good sized a 14" deep rdsb as filtration? Is live rock important or infact necessary? If so why?

yes you can, the LR helps introduce coralline and other beneficial critters to your system but it's not necessary.

Your base rocks will turn into "live rocks" in a few weeks. You don't have to have "Live Rocks" to start a system.
