How do you guys keep your glass free of algae, It seems like every couple of days I need to scrape it off. My astrea snails dont seems to want to go on my glass, I also have a margarita snail that does his best. But any recommendations on how to keep the glass clean.

If you can get them, Stomatella will clean glass. So will Trochus, in my experience.

I had 2 stomatellas, peppermint shrimp ate them. I'll consider getting a few trochus, thanks

I really like it when I come in and find ONE snail working...and not even making an EFFORT - just making a squiggly path across the glass...while the others are apparently all off ... mating, judging by the number of snail eggs always stuck to things.
Even if the whole crew is really putting their mind to it, I still give the glass a good scraping with the mag-float once or twice a week...

Also, astreas don't particularly like to go across the sand - try making them a little bridge from your rock to the glass (seriously).

The astrea's have lots of little bridges their just super lazy. What about Cerith snails since my LFS doesnt carry Trochus

I have a dozen ceriths, and occasionally see them on the glass - but I think they prefer to eat the poop from the other snails - I wouldn't count on them for glass cleaners, but they are good at cleaning up glass cleaner poop...

I have both Astrea's and Cerith's. I have not found the astrea's not lazzy at all. They have eaten more than the ceriths. Both have been working the glass. For sand I have two burrowing Conches.
