I just bought a new piece of LR yesterday, and wondered about some of the inhabitants. Im brand new to the hobby, but I do know enough to come here for help!
Heres a few pictures, wondered if you guys could help me ID them AND let me know if they are good or bad!
Thanks!

Just wondering if any of those I should plan on removing, and if so, what is the best way to get rid of them!
Thanks guys!

Plant #1 is Halemedia (spelling might be wrong) Nice Rock!!
Plant #2 is Feather Caulerpa
Plant #3 is Grape Caulerpa
Both 2 & 3 can be fast spreading in a reef tank and can become quite invasive and hard to remove. Most people choose to keep these in a refugium where they can't reach the main display tank.
Coral #1 appears to be a very sick Candy Cane, Trumpet or similar coral. This coral looks to be on it's way out but given optimal recovery conditions and water quality you may have a head or two survive.
Coral #2 is something I have in my tank. Been there for years and I have never been able to get a proper ID. I hope somebody comes along with a definitive ID. I can tell you that in my tank it has been very slow growing and non-invasive. Slow growing and very pretty.

OK, so I don't have a refugium or sump or anything. My tank will probably wind up being FOWLR.....is it best to remove them?

errr.... not my call to make, up to you. Why FOWLR? You already seem to have gotten several corals on you LR......?
I personally don't think much of FOWLR tanks.... If that's your goal I'd definately leave the plants in to at least give the tank some color. The fish will also appreciate it.

Well, the reason Im saying FOWLR is because my tank is enclosed on 3 sides. I have no way to pipe anything externally. The space I had created for my tank was built before I knew enough to know I should have made room for a sump and or refugium. The only filtration I have is Freedom Filter, so everyone on here is telling me that its no good. Havent really talked to anyone that has any actual experience, but I guess thats the way it goes. My dream of course was to have corals and anemones and all that cool stuff. I guess I'll have to wait and see what my tank can handle. Right now, Im just trying to learn as much as possible from people with experience willing to share thier experience! I've learned so much already, and look forward to learning more as time goes on. Maybe someday I'll figure out a way to have more in my tank. But for now, Im adding things very slowly!
Thanks for the replies! :)
