I just lost my royal gramma today. I figured it would be a bad idea with my six line wrasse, but the LFS assured me that it would be fine. Sure enough the wrasse terriorized the gramma, and even after placing it in my fuge it died. They gave me store credit and I now want to get opinion before the next fish.

I have 2 ocillaris clowns, six line wrasse, diamond watchman, and I was thinking about getting a anthias. I like the Bartlett's but may also go with some other anthias. Liveaquaria says that they should be fine, but they said the same about basslets and wrasses. So what do you think?

Any of the more common species such as Lyretails, Bartletts and dispar would be ok as long as you limited yourself to one. These fish like to swim so having a bowfront which are usually built high instead of long will make things rough on what ever you choose.

I'm not sure that your sixline will be any less of a terror to an athias as it was to a gramma...

Could I just keep one, or do you have to get them in groups? If I do get one is it more aggressive, or more shy?

One would be fine by itself. You want something more on the aggressive side because of the six line.

A good healthy anthias of the species I lised before won't be shy. They are some of the most out going species you can get.

Like Peter suggested though that sixline might still cause problems. You will need to keep a close eye on it. As long as it is in the tank your gonna be limited to what else can be added.
